The DfE (Department for Education) has updated its "Safe working in education and childcare" guidance to clarify PPE advice and changes in access to testing:
- Practitioners will only need to wear PPE if a child becomes ill with COVID-19 symptoms and cannot stay 2 metres away from any other person or if they routinely use PPE for intimate care
- Priority testing is available to all essential workers and their households which includes anyone working in childcare and education
- Education, childcare and children’s social care settings, as employers, can obtain a log in to a secure online employer referral portal, through which they can upload a full list of names of self-isolating essential workers that need a test.
Note: Applies to England
