This article explains what happens with your Cheqdin subscription plan in case your payment card stops working and we are not able to successfully charge it. 


Credit, debit or pre-paid cards can sometimes fail. Some reasons for this could be that the card has expired, there are insufficient funds, or your bank blocked the payment because it was either not recognised. For more information on this, see help article: Reasons why your subscription payment failed.


What happens with the subscription after failed payments?


Monthly subscriptions are renewed every 30 days and yearly subscriptions are renewed every 12 months. When the time to renew the subscription comes, we try to bill the card that you have saved on file. Your card details are not saved by Cheqdin, your payment details are stored and processed by our secure online payments provider Stripe. To give our customers a heads up on upcoming Cheqdin subscription renewal, we send an upcoming subscription renewal alert usually about 7 days prior to the payment being taken or processed. This email is sent to your registered billing email address. 


If the card is billed correctly, your Cheqdin subscription is successfully renewed. However, if the payment fails, what will happen with your subscription? 


When we are not able to bill your card on the day your subscription is due to renew, we keep trying to bill your card at a later time. Retries are automatic and we will attempt to take the payment three times. If the 3rd attempt also fails, your subscription status will change to unpaid/ on hold. In the meantime, our customer support team will contact you regarding this and discuss your options. 


If we could not renew your subscription after retrying:


If we could not charge you for the entire subscription period, we put your subscription on hold. Having a limited/ on hold subscription means that you cannnot access your account until you enter a new credit or debit card and we bill you successfully for the unpaid subscription charges.
